We had the cabin all to ourselves for a night. We watched a few movies and fell asleep on the floor in front of the fire. I LOVE this place.
11.17.2012
My favorite moment of the day was sleeping on the floor in front of the fire at my parents house. I laid there listening to Todd laughing and joking with my parents in the kitchen. In that moment I felt so grateful that my parents love my husband like their own. They totally get him, and let Todd be himself. I love that. We left Lucy with my parents and went to the temple. It was incredible, there was only one person over the age of thirty. The officiators were in their 20's and everyone in the session seemed to be our age. What a powerful thing that was.

Today I want to remember laughing so hard I couldn't breathe around the Olive Garden table with my family. And I want to remember looking back in the rear view mirror on the drive to Idaho to see Todd adoringly looking at Lucy with a proud papa little half smile. Perfection,

Dear baby,
Yesterday we got to see you again. You look SO adorable. You had a teency bladder, and cute little fingers and toes. Your bones and your spine lit up all white and were just the cutest things we’ve ever seen. In one of the pictures you stretched out your legs as long as they could go and pointed your toes. Are you going to be a dancer little one? We’ll see. The rest of your genetic tests came back normal. All 46 chromosomes for you. The down side of the day, was your cystic hygroma was bigger than last time. Not as big as it was when it was huge, but bigger than last time. Your neonatologist said that it was not alarming, and told us to keep our fingers crossed it will be gone by your next ultrasound in a few weeks. She said that if it was gone by then we have cause to be “cautiously optimistic.” So, that is what we are being. In 10 weeks we go to Primary Childrens and their fetal cardiologists will look really closely at your heart. The hygroma tells us that it is likely that there is something wrong and hopefully they will be able to tell us what it is. How lucky are we that there is a top children's hospital right by us, so that if your little heart needs some help, the best of the best will be able to do it. Maybe there won’t be anything wrong and you are fixing it yourself. You must be working hard in there or something, because you are still making me sicker than a dog. I lost another pound, and am struggling to make it back up to my pre-pregnancy weight, but am determined to gain some weight this week. I’m debating eating a container of sour cream, then washing it down with a carton heavy whipping cream for lunch. Nothing sounds good/tastes good or stays in my stomach anyways, so I might as well put something high calorie in there for a minute or two right? Sounds delicious. Wish me luck. Love, mom.

I realize that the video is just black, but that laughter is the best sound I thought I'd never get to hear. My heart is bursting with gratitude. My miracle baby.
Pumpkin Baby and blogging recommit
So, I'm so busy editing photos of every one else and their cute kids, that my little nuggets photos are unedited and plain. I'm going to post them any ways, even though it kind of gives me an anxiety attack. I AM going to better at journaling (blogging) about this amazing life of ours. I can't believe how much my photography has taken off. I feel so grateful for everyone that has supported me. I've been doing photo shoots almost every day I have off. It's been incredible! But, with the busy months being over I'm looking forward to spending a little more me time during my down time. Mostly, I just want to go back to writing down my favorite moments of the day. Starting today... maybe tomorrow. Today, just enjoy my child as the tooth fairy, and in a pumpkin.
Big News
So... I've been working on something and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm pretty nervous about it too. But, finally I feel ready to take the plunge. Take a look.

Today's highlights: Lucy slept nine and a half hours last night which left me with a huge amount of energy today. I went to a late night dance movie with my dental school girls and Todd and I woke the baby up dancing around learning from a "how to gangnam" tutorial. Also I grocery shopped today, meaning I won't have to do that again for a few weeks.yeah for me, yeah for today.
Sunday was a day I want to repeat over and over again. There wasn't any church due to the Brigham City temple dedication. We cuddled in bed till noon with Lucy then made dinner and headed up to Silver Lake. It was breath-takingly beautiful. We walked around the boardwalk holding hands and taking pictures every nine steps. We passed so many cute little families and we talked about how we can't wait to have a whole crew to take pictures of and to put into our perfect pearl Jeep Commander( our someday car). Right now our future feels as bright as the fall leaves. It feels amazing to be on our way to accomplishing our dreams, and it feels good to be adjusted and content with our new roles as parents. I know there will be bumps in the road and set backs and hard times. But, right now it's easy to pretend there won't be, and I'm okay with that.

As I got ready to go to work and give a lecture to other nurses about Multiple Myeloma I felt so grateful and proud to be balancing my nursing career with being a mom. This months marks 5 years at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital. I admit that getting out the door for those two shifts a week is tough and I have to talk myself into it every time, but I am happy to have a gratifying job that allows Todd and I some breathing room in our budget.
To remember
The moment when I went in to get Lucy from her nap I opened the blinds and went to pick her up and she looked up at me with the biggest "I'm happy so see you" grin and giggled. Oh and why yes that is slobber slowly dripping toward my mouth in the top picture.. no big deal
To remember
That my fabulous dental school girls took me out to dessert for my birthday (even thought it was a month late) and we spent two hours laughing, chatting and venting. I drove home with such a big smile on my face and a grateful heart to have such amazing new friends.
To remember
The moment when my patient gave me a hug and said I just love people like you, I tend to favor Leo's.
To remember
That every morning when Todd leaves for school, he wakes me up to give me a kiss and tell me he loves me, and then he kisses Lucy on her forehead then her cheek.
To remember
The moment when Lucy was being a little Lucifer ish and screaming hysterically and wouldn't go down for her nap even though she was 100% exhausted. Todd and I were taking turns bouncing her and jumping up and down with her and doing anything we could to get her to calm down. We both looked at each other with exhausted "you've got to be kidding me" eyes and had ourselves a good moment of laughter that this is our life... oh how things have changed.
5 months
Oh how you have stolen our hearts. You are five months old. As I'm typing this you are watching football with your Dad. Every once in a while you stand up on his hands and do your little trick, and every once in a while you look at me over his shoulder and giggle and my heart melts. You love to watch the t.v or the iphone it puts you in this magical no cry trance that we have come to rely on at 5:00 in the morning when you want to be up hanging out. You are 11 pounds 12 ounces. 8th% weight, 25th % for height and that noggin of yours is still growing like a weed (75th%). It's a little out of control but totally adorable. You continue to be a great napper,a good eater and you are quite the little charmer. Ladies are always commenting on how cute you are and 98% of the time you give them that perfect little dimpled grin as a reward for their nice words. It's the best. I love the bottom two pictures because they epitomize you right now. You always have things in your mouth. Your favorite things to munch on are : my hair, my hands, my shirt, my necklaces, your bird toy, your hands, your fingers and every single thing you can put in that cute little boca. You are still in newborn onesies and size 1 diapers. The craziest thing you do is stand up while holding on to something! We put you up by this foot high box we have and you stand there for 30 seconds holding onto it just happy as a clam. It looks so unnatural for such a tiny little thing to be standing up on her own. Your giggle fits are the favorite parts of my day and I want to say thank you for being such a good hang out buddy when your Dad is at school. You make tests weeks bearable give my days purpose. We love you Luce
To remember
The moment when Byu almost tied the game against Utah with literally .1 second left. We were at a party with our dental school buds and we were all screaming and jumping and high five-ing. I don't want to remember the part where we lost and had to drive home dejected and depressed :(.
To remember
The moment when I was upstairs getting ready for date night and I was listening to Todd play with Lucy. He was making her laugh and he was laughing and it was perfection
to remember
The moment when it was 12:30 am and we were just laughing in our bed and Todd told me mid sentence that he misses me on test weeks.
Twin Falls
We decided to take a quick trip to Twin Falls to visit my sister Hilary, and to also watch Rhett play in an all-star collegiate league baseball double header. The boys were also able to squeeze in 27 holes of golf. It was so fun. Hilary is the best host with the best food.
Smash the cake
We also had a darling smash the cake photo shoot with Peyton, Brooks baby girl. It's tempting to roll out some butcher paper and smash some cake for myself.... weekend idea?
Labor Day
Labor day is such a random, but awesome holiday. We took a last minute trip up to Island Park with Wyatt and Ash, Rhett, and my Mom and Dad. Highl lights were... Rhett landed his first back flip ever. Lucy slept 7.5 hours which was heaven. Todd slalom water skiied for the first time ever, It only took him three times to get up, but those two unsuccessful tries might have been the funniest thing I've seen just about ever. We were all laughing so hard that my dad wasn't watching where he was driving the boat, and we just about capsized. A huge wave came splashing it into the boat, soaking everything in the front of the boat. A little tender mercy was, my camera had been sitting there just a minute or two before that and I for some reason decided to move it right before it happened. Thank goodness. We ate salmon and fresh garden veggies which were pretty delightful and we watched the sunset on the lake. We capped off the night by taking the babies to their first bar ever. Ponds lodge bar and grill. Pretty darn perfect 48 hours if you ask me.
Remember.
I wouldn't mind forgetting how many cokes it took me to get through the day and this night shift. It would be nice to forget that we live in a world where 74 year old heroine addict grandmothers exsist, and it would be alright if the words "poor prognosis" weren't in my daily vocabulary. I don't want to remember my dishwasher that needs unloaded or my half painted stair case. And I definitely don't want to remember the strange wound on the strange body part that I strangely had to dress.
Instead, today I want to remember that moment when it was 4:00 p.m. and all three of us were still in our pajamas. We were sitting on the couch and Todd was making Lucy a little human airplane. He would fly her to my face and I would kiss her and she would laugh, then we would laugh. I want to remember how Todd always tells her "tell me secret's" and puts her face to his ear and waits for her to do her squeals. I want to remember that today Todd told me he loved my ankles.

Lucy-
Remember when I was going to blog about all of Lucys changes from month to month? Well... shoot. We got a little behind. Too bad her life is so poorly documented. Oh wait, she has had any where between 1 and 560 photos taken of her EVERY day since she was born. I think she will survive. There are a few things my trusty iPhone and Nikon can't catch just right however. I can't photography how she looks when she wakes up grinning up at me with sleepy eyes every morning. I can't seem to catch her perfect tiny little dimples when she smiles. I can't catch her constant babbling, or little giggles. I can't capture her chill moods where she just is content to sit and watch t.v with me, or sit and watch me make bows.I can't photograph the way she makes Todd and I feel like we are the luckiest two people in the world. I can't catch the feeling where you are so happy and so proud of your baby that you literally might burst into song and dance. I want to bottle this all up. I never want her to grow up... but alas she will, and she is. She is 4.5 months old now. She is still in newborn onesies, but the pants all look like Capri's. She is in the awkward in between where 0-3 month clothes are too big, but newborn stuff is getting a little tight. At four months she weighed 11.2 lbs and was in the 6th percentile. Her height was in the 25th percentile, and her head was in the 60th. What a smart, big noggined, skinny little babe we have. I wish I could report that she was a great sleeper. She was a champ when she was born, but now we have some issues. We have been trying something new that has made her day time nap times dreamy and fuss free. But night, is unfortunately a different story. The max she goes is usually 4-5 hours at a time. It's a little rough. It's crazy to believe that in four and a half months I have only slept 7 hours in one stretch, two times. Twice! How Heavenly Father helps us by giving us energy to do the day to day things on no sleep is a huge blessing of motherhood... the other thing he blessed us with is Dr.Pepper.
I am not going to lie and say things are new mommy bliss 100% of the time. Babies cry hysterically sometimes. Babies throw up all over you more than sometimes, Babies sometimes don't want to be restrained in their car seats. Babies sometimes don't feel like sleeping when all their moms want is a tiny bit of shut eye after having been up 24 straight hours working. Babies sometimes cramp your marriage style you are used to and make it harder to find enough time with just your spouse. Babies also sometimes stretch your skin out so much you don't even recognize yourself from the neck down. And let's not forget that babies sometimes cause massive heaps of laundry.
However, sometimes-- most of the time... 95% of the time babies are the best thing in the whole universe. I want a zillion of them (or... at least five).
