To remember

The moment when Byu almost tied the game against Utah with literally .1 second left. We were at a party with our dental school buds and we were all screaming and jumping and high five-ing. I don't want to remember the part where we lost and had to drive home dejected and depressed :(.

To remember

The moment when I was upstairs getting ready for date night and I was listening to Todd play with Lucy. He was making her laugh and he was laughing and it was perfection

to remember

The moment when it was 12:30 am and we were just laughing in our bed and Todd told me mid sentence that he misses me on test weeks.

Rock On

Twin Falls

We decided to take a quick trip to Twin Falls to visit my sister Hilary, and to also watch Rhett play in an all-star collegiate league baseball double header. The boys were also able to squeeze in 27 holes of golf.  It was so fun. Hilary is the best host with the best food.

Smash the cake

We also had a darling smash the cake photo shoot with Peyton, Brooks baby girl. It's tempting to roll out some butcher paper and smash some cake for myself.... weekend idea?

Labor Day

Labor day is such a random, but awesome holiday. We took a last minute trip up to Island Park with Wyatt and Ash, Rhett, and my Mom and Dad. Highl lights were... Rhett landed his first back flip ever. Lucy slept 7.5 hours which was heaven. Todd slalom water skiied for the first time ever, It only took him three times to get up, but those two unsuccessful tries might have been the funniest thing I've seen just about ever. We were all laughing so hard that my dad wasn't watching where he was driving the boat, and we just about capsized. A huge wave came splashing it into the boat, soaking everything in the front of the boat. A little tender mercy was, my camera had been sitting there just a minute or two before that and I for some reason decided to move it right before it happened. Thank goodness. We ate salmon and fresh garden veggies which were pretty delightful and we watched the sunset on the lake. We capped off the night by taking the babies to their first bar ever. Ponds lodge bar and grill. Pretty darn perfect 48 hours if you ask me.

Remember.

I wouldn't mind forgetting how many cokes it took me to get through the day and this night shift. It would be nice to forget that we live in a world where 74 year old heroine addict grandmothers exsist, and it would be alright if the words "poor prognosis" weren't in my daily vocabulary. I don't want to remember my dishwasher that needs unloaded or my half painted stair case. And I definitely don't want to remember the strange wound on the strange body part that I strangely had to dress.
Instead, today I want to remember that moment when it was 4:00 p.m. and all three of us were still in our pajamas. We were sitting on the couch and Todd was making Lucy a little human airplane. He would fly her to my face and I would kiss her and she would laugh, then we would laugh. I want to remember how Todd always tells her "tell me secret's" and puts her face to his ear and waits for her to do her squeals. I want to remember that today Todd told me he loved my ankles.

3:30 a.m. ramblings

Lucy-
Remember when I was going to blog about all of Lucys changes from month to month? Well... shoot. We got a little behind. Too bad her life is so poorly documented. Oh wait, she has had any where between 1 and 560 photos taken of her EVERY day since she was born. I think she will survive. There are a few things my trusty iPhone and Nikon can't catch just right however. I can't photography how she looks when she wakes up grinning up at me with sleepy eyes every morning. I can't seem to catch her perfect tiny little dimples when she smiles. I can't catch her constant babbling, or little giggles. I can't capture her chill moods where she just is content to sit and watch t.v with me, or sit and watch me make bows.I can't photograph the way she makes Todd and I feel like we are the luckiest two people in the world. I can't catch the feeling where you are so happy and so proud of your baby that you literally might burst into song and dance. I want to bottle this all up. I never want her to grow up... but alas she will, and she is. She is 4.5 months old now. She is still in newborn onesies, but the pants all look like Capri's. She is in the awkward in between where 0-3 month clothes are too big, but newborn stuff is getting a little tight. At four months she weighed 11.2 lbs and was in the 6th percentile. Her height was in the 25th percentile, and her head was in the 60th. What a smart, big noggined, skinny little babe we have. I wish I could report that she was a great sleeper. She was a champ when she was born, but now we have some issues. We have been trying something new that has made her day time nap times dreamy and fuss free. But night, is unfortunately a different story. The max she goes is usually 4-5 hours at a time. It's a little rough. It's crazy to believe that in four and a half months I have only slept 7 hours in one stretch, two times. Twice! How Heavenly Father helps us by giving us energy to do the day to day things on no sleep is a huge blessing of motherhood... the other thing he blessed us with is Dr.Pepper.
I am not going to lie and say things are new mommy bliss 100% of the time. Babies cry hysterically sometimes. Babies throw up all over you more than sometimes, Babies sometimes don't want to be restrained in their car seats. Babies sometimes don't feel like sleeping when all their moms want is a tiny bit of shut eye after having been up 24 straight hours working. Babies sometimes cramp your marriage style you are used to and make it harder to find enough time with just your spouse. Babies also sometimes stretch your skin out so much you don't even recognize yourself from the neck down. And let's not forget that babies sometimes cause massive heaps of laundry.
However, sometimes-- most of the time... 95% of the time babies are the best thing in the whole universe. I want a zillion of them (or... at least five).

8.27.12

This little face brings me more joy than anything in the whole world. High points of the day: Coming home to the news that she slept 7.5 hours for Todd last night, walking in and watching her face light up when she sees me. Waking up with her crystal blue eyes just staring at me... I don't know how long she let me sleep while she was still awake, but I love her for it. The three naps she took today, and that moment where she tried to laugh and inhaled so hard she started coughing. The other high points--- today was not a grocery shopping day, I get a pass on basically doing anything because it was a recovery from work day, and Todd and I started another series that we are probably going to become obsessed with. A good day. Thank you babe and babes...I LOVE you.

So long sweet summer

18 days. That is how many days of our summer we spent at our house. 18 days in three months. The thought of back blogging on a whole summers worth of excitement basically makes me want to tear my hair out. So, I've decided to skip it. 18 home days and probably 18,000 pictures later our summer has come to an end and I will just have to cherish all those lovely memories in my heart, and on my hard drive. I'm secretly excited to get back into a routine. I secretly can't wait to be bored because there is nothing to do. I'm excited to read peoples blogs again, and make Lucy bows and edit photos and blow dry my hair and do things that I never took time to do during our summer whirlwind of awesomeness. Anywhoo.. here is us moving forward. Last night we went camping up Big Cottonwood with eight or so couples from dental school and their kids.  Lucy has been camping more in her 4 months of life, than I had in my first 22 years. As usual, it was a blast. Four of us couples stayed up until 3:30 laughing, telling stories and playing truth or dare. I love how funny everything gets the later it gets. Something about a camp fire just brings something out in people. We HEART camping.
